James joined DSW Ventures in 2024 as an associate. He is responsible for leading new investments alongside supporting the existing portfolio.

 

At DSW Ventures, James has led multiple early-stage deals across deeptech, life sciences and artificial intelligence, and has co-developed proprietary deal sourcing technology. Previously, James was a research scientist at AstraZeneca, working in early-stage drug discovery with a focus on DNA-encoded libraries and machine learning. He also won multiple awards for scientific communication during this period.

 

James holds an MChem from the University of Durham, including a placement year with AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, working on DNA-encoded libraries and on-DNA synthesis.
