Droplet Scientific is developing technology for the continuous, real-time measurement of chemical biomarkers. Across intensive care and life sciences, biomarker monitoring typically relies on intermittent blood sampling and laboratory analysis every four to six hours, leaving clinicians unable to observe important biological changes that occur between readings.
The company’s first device, AnalyteX™, aims to transform patient monitoring by enabling automated biomarker measurements every 20 seconds, generating continuous, near real-time data streams comparable to those provided by vital sign monitors for heart rate, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels.
The company was founded by microfluidics expert Professor Xize Niu and former Dyson engineer Junda Niu, building on droplet microfluidics research conducted at the University of Southampton. DSW Ventures led Droplet Scientific’s first close of £1.5m seed funding round in September 2026, alongside co-investors TusPark Holdings and HopeSky Capital. A second close of £2m is planned for Q4 2026.
