DSW Ventures P-FIS
Pension Fund Investment In S/EIS

A new way to think about pension wealth

Recent changes to Inheritance Tax have transformed how pensions are treated on death, and for many individuals, the implications are significant – up to two-thirds of pension wealth.

DSW Ventures’ P-FIS is designed to help individuals take greater control of pension capital during their lifetime, while mitigating tax for the next generation and supporting UK enterprise.

Your capital is at risk. P-FIS will not be suitable for everyone, including retail investors. Independent advice is essential.

Why this matters now

With pensions now subject to Inheritance Tax — and income tax still payable by beneficiaries — a substantial proportion of pension wealth may be lost on death, often up to two thirds.

For individuals who have spent decades building these assets, this raises important questions:

  • Is it still optimal to leave pension wealth untouched?
  • Can capital be repositioned more flexibly in life?
  • How can the tax burden be minimised for the family without aggressive planning?

P-FIS is not a tax scheme. It is a strategy.

Developed by DSW Ventures in collaboration with a leading national tax advisory firm, it uses established EIS and SEIS tax benefits as part of a broader, compliant planning framework.

The strategy is designed to:

  • Extract pension capital tax-efficiently during lifetime
  • Create optionality over how capital is used or passed on
  • Support early-stage UK businesses
  • Reduce the IHT impact on assets over time

Who is it for?

This strategy may be suitable for individuals who:

  • Have significant pension assets
  • Are concerned about IHT exposure
  • Want flexibility and control over their capital
  • Are comfortable with higher-risk investments as part of a diversified approach

What are the EIS and S/EIS schemes?

The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) have been central to government policy for supporting early-stage UK businesses for decades. Introduced in 1994 and 2012, respectively, the schemes are designed to encourage investment in high-growth trading companies—particularly innovative, technology-led businesses. In return for backing higher-risk ventures, investors can benefit from a range of generous tax incentives, including initial tax relief, tax-free gains, loss mitigation and guaranteed tax reliefs, subject to qualification. Together, EIS and SEIS create a powerful framework for aligning private capital with UK enterprise.

DSW Ventures invests on behalf of clients capable of making their own investment decisions and who understand clearly the risks involved in investing in early-stage companies, which includes the potential loss of the entire investment. We do not invest on behalf of retail investors. Please contact us or seek professional independent guidance if you are not sure of your status. This is not tax advice. DSW Ventures are not tax advisers. You should take your own professional tax advice. We cannot guarantee that investors will receive or retain SEIS, EIS, or other tax advantages which are subject to many restrictions and qualifying conditions. Your money is at risk. SEIS and EIS shares are unquoted, illiquid, high risk, and with a high incidence of failure and losses.
